On Saturday, November 2, 2019, Twist Out Cancer hosted Brushes with Cancer, an arts-forward event connecting local artists with someone who has been touched by cancer—survivors, previvors, caregivers, and supporters. Over the past five months, the artists have been creating a piece of work inspired by their partner’s unique “twist” on cancer, and this evening was a chance for the “inspirations” to view the artwork they influenced and connect with the Twist Out Cancer community. Also featuring cocktails, dinner, performances, an auction, and a rousing rendition of Chubby Checker’s “The Twist,” it was an incredible inclusion on Twist Out Cancer’s repertoire of events that use creative arts programming to provide psychosocial support for individuals touched by cancer.
