THROWBACKS
Some things never go out of style. Everyday Runway’s Melissa Berry shares fashion must haves for a fresh take on relaxed vintage trends.

My love affair with accessories goes way back. My mom used to let me play with her box of beautiful silk scarves, and I recall folding them and wrapping them around my head in different styles. Hats were always a fun way to instantly switch up my look, and who could forget the ‘80s?! From “Flashdance”-inspired leg warmers to stacks of black “Madonna bracelets,” the possibilities were endless.

The magic really happens when fashion meets function, and that’s what I love about this month’s column! There are so many fun winter accessories out there this season, and not only are they fabulous but they also keep you super warm and cozy! Let’s face it—for most of us, February is still cold. But that doesn’t mean that you need to sacrifice style for warmth.

Check out some of these throwback accessories that you won’t want to be without this season!

Even if you don’t consider yourself to be much of an accessory person, give at least one of these tried and true trends a chance. At the very least, you’ll find a refreshed way to keep your head, hands and neck bundled up all season long. Happy shopping!

Leg Warmers

Whenever I see leg warmers, they always remind me of the ‘80s cult classic, “Flashdance.” There’s a subtle elegance about them that I’ve always loved, and I’m so happy to see that they’re back on the fashion scene. Just look at cW founder Caylei Vogelzang rocking some gorgeous legwarmers.

Knit Hoods

Speaking of the ‘80s… knit hoods are all the rage again this season and are a great alternative to a traditional hat while keeping you extra warm. I love this colorful, chunky knit interpretation from Etsy ($75)

Extra-long Scarves

Extra-long scarves were first seen on the runway last year and are now hitting the streets in a big way. This trend is perfect for my cozy blanket lovers out there. Drape it around your back and shoulders for extra warmth, or just tie it once around your neck for a more dramatic look. This beauty by ASOS is only $18 and the tassels add just the right touch!

Faux Fur Bucket Hats

These bad boys have been culturally cool since the late ‘70s and are enjoying quite the resurgence. Hats are a great way to add a dose of sophistication to even the simplest outfit. Check out this fabulous animal print bucket hat from Revolve ($65).

Fingerless Gloves

Want to keep your hands warm without losing your ability to text? Look no further! These fingerless gloves from Smart Wool do the job plus they look stylish and add a fun pop of color to your ‘fit. Only $33? Sign me up!
