The Snuggle is Real
SNUGGLE
Everyday Runway’s Melissa Berry offers her cozy curated list of nightwear for warriors.

I don’t know about you, but buying new sleepwear often falls to the bottom of my list. For me, it comes down to budget. Would I rather get that super cute outfit for date night, or a comfy yet stylish set of jammies that I can slip into after a long day at the office? You know the answer to that one!

But the truth is that you don’t need to choose one over the other. The new year is a great time to take inventory of your nighttime apparel. We all have that drawer—you know the one that I’m talking about. It’s the one filled to the rim with old T-shirts that you can’t seem to part with, the broken-in sweatshirts, the mismatched pajama sets of yesteryear. It’s OK. Just like the song, you can let it go…

When I was undergoing breast cancer treatment, I received so many great new sets of PJs. As time went on, I kind of forgot to treat myself and replenish “that drawer.” So, I’ve rounded up some great nighttime staples—it’s the perfect excuse to say buh-bye to those old sweatpants and hello to a decadent nightgown (or two). I made a point of including plenty of buttoned options for those of us amid breast reconstruction since pulling garments over our heads can be tricky, especially at the end of a long day.

Nighty Night!

When I was a little girl, I remember admiring my mom’s nightgowns. They looked regal on her. There’s something decadent about “slipping” into one of these, but no need to wait for a special occasion to wear one! I included nightgowns as an option and a reminder that we all like to feel like a princess occasionally, even if it’s for a Wednesday night Netflix-a-thon. Natori always delivers, and I Iove this beautiful number ($120) which offers up feminine, adjustable straps and a low-cut back.

Lucky Star

Comfort is key when it comes to getting a good night’s sleep, but you certainly don’t have to sacrifice your style integrity in the process. I just love this pajama set from Macy’s ($69.50). It’s black, and it has stars on it. Need I say more?

Back in Black

Speaking of… there’s plenty of black in my wardrobe, so why not incorporate your favorite color in your sleepwear lineup? This nightgown is a beauty ($59.50), with a deep V-neck and shimmery lace trim.

For the Fashionista

There’s no better way to saunter into the kitchen for your cup of bedtime tea than in this fabulous pajama set by Shein. The unexpected feather trim is such a fun surprise, and only $25? Sign me up, please!

That Classic Look

When I think of pajamas, the classic two-piece with piping detail always comes to mind. You simply can’t go wrong with this look because it’s tailored yet relaxed and never goes out of style. This duo from J. Crew ($98) is super soft and the fabric is even sourced from responsibly managed forests. I love the ease of a button-down, especially if you’re just recovering from breast reconstruction surgery.

Better Than Your Boyfriend’s Shirt

Another favorite silhouette of mine is the sleep shirt. Wouldn’t you agree that this looks much cuter than your boyfriend’s T-shirt? If the answer is yes, then treat yourself to this beauty by Eberjay ($89). The blend is incredibly soft, plus it’s anti-pilling, machine washable and gentle on the skin. Not only does it feel beautiful but it’s easy to care for, too!
