SELF-CARE STYLE
There’s no question about it—you deserve some self-care and self-indulgence after the past year! Everyday Runway columnist Melissa Berry shares her top picks of the “treat yourself” variety worth your coin this season.

I can’t believe it’s September! I love the summer, but there’s also so much to like about fall. One thing I especially love about September is that it’s Self-Care Awareness Month! We hear about self-care all the time now, and I think it’s easy to say we’re going to indulge, relax and take those moments for ourselves. But somehow life often gets in the way. I’m here to remind you to put yourself first and get yourself a little treat to kick off the change in weather—in style, of course! Here are a few fun and affordable ways to treat yourself this fall while celebrating Self-Care Awareness Month all season long.

I CAN’T WAIT TO PUT MY BRA ON

There’s nothing better than slipping into a comfy bra at the end of a long day. That’s right, you heard correctly! As a breast cancer thriver, I can tell you firsthand that I’m actually more comfortable wearing my AnaOno Monica bra ($54) than nothing at all! The baby soft fabrication, full coverage and medium support is simply the perfect combination. And for those of you who are undergoing radiation, this one’s for you! Why? Because the wire-free cups never dig into or harm sensitive areas that are still healing. This is self-care at its finest.

FOUNDATION WITH BENEFITS

One thing that I’ll never want to run out of is my SaltyGirl Beauty foundation ($34). This high-performance, beautifully pigmented liquid foundation is perfect for nourishing your skin, creating an even-toned glow and providing a flawless finish. This formula never looks caked on and doesn’t clog pores. Most importantly, it’s free of toxic chemicals! You can choose from 12 different shades and it’s all-natural, 90 percent organic, offers natural sun protection and is gluten free and non-GMO. The best part? It’s lightly scented with vanilla, so it smells like cake batter! Not a bad way to start your day.

MAKE ME SOME MATCHA

Here’s the deal: Matcha is really good for you. Specifically, it may help promote focus and calm as well as detoxifies, boosts energy levels and increases metabolism and immunity. Learning how to make the perfect cup of matcha can be intimidating because of its super granular properties. I’ve even found myself Googling the best way to prepare matcha and the water/matcha ratios. It can be very confusing. Thank you to the Full Leaf Tea Company for bringing us this fabulous matcha kit ($79.95)! The kits come with easy instructions to make the perfect matcha, as well as a hand-crafted matcha bowl (the perfect shape to whisk matcha to its frothy goodness), a matcha whisk engineered to create optimal agitation of the matcha and a bamboo scoop which takes the perfect amount of matcha for each delicious cup.

I DREAM OF DENIM

When was the last time you treated yourself to a brand new pair of jeans? Jeans are a wardrobe staple for most of us, but it’s easy to overlook the need for a fresh pair (or two!) once in a while. Wide-leg jeans can be so chic, especially when topped off with a great top. I may need to grab a pair of these Madewell jeans in the “Eastchester” wash ($135). This is a fresh, new take on a ‘90s staple with its high waist, and these are the widest leg fit Madewell has ever offered, so get ‘em while you can!
