Earrings Are a Girl’s Best Friend
EARRINGS
If you’re looking to go big and bold while your hair grows, earrings may be your new favorite accessory.

Ever since I was a teenager, I’ve always loved shopping for earrings. They’re such a fun and inexpensive way to take your outfit from simple to simply fabulous! When I lost my hair as a result of my chemotherapy treatment, I depended on earrings even more to add an extra dose of glamour to my new look.

Cancer or no cancer, earrings are a girl’s best friend and here’s why. Earrings accentuate your bone structure, as well as complement and add style to a very short hairstyle. They also add sophistication, sparkle and color to even the most basic T-shirt or sweater.

When you don’t have any hair, or it’s just beginning to grow out, a great pair of earrings can really make a fashion statement. If you weren’t an earring person before, you may just become one now! Before you begin shopping for a new earring collection, consider the shape of your face. Here’s a simple guide to finding the best look for you, based on the shape of your face as well as your hair length.

OVAL FACE

You can wear just about any style with an oval face, so try oversized hoops, long drops and even oversized florals which are trending right now. I love these “Full Bloom Flower” earrings from J. Crew ($32). These look great with a short hairstyle or a chin-length bob.

ROUND FACE

Opt for long drop earrings which will help elongate your facial features. The Rosalind Drop Earrings from Anthropologie ($54) are the epitome of chic and look great no matter what your hair length is. This unexpected combination of wood and crystals gives an instant update to even the simplest top.

HEART-SHAPED FACE

To balance out the triangular shape of your face, experiment with earrings that are wider at the bottom than at the top. Tear-drop styles work well, and these Turquoise Seed Bead Statement Earrings by South Moon Under ($34) are a great choice because of their shape as well as their exaggerated size. Oversized earrings are popular this season, so you’ll be right on trend when you wear them! These look especially chic when you have no hair or when worn with a simple head wrap.

SQUARE FACE

To soften the natural angles of your face, avoid square-shaped hoops and studs. Opt for medium to long length earrings and don’t be afraid to go for some sparkle. You can’t go wrong with these SUGARFIX Celestial Drop Earrings by BaubleBar, and they look beautiful no matter where you are in your hair growth journey. They’re only $12.99 and the pink gold is perfect for summer!

Bottom line? Have fun with your earrings and don’t be afraid to try shapes and sizes that you haven’t tried before. By the end of your treatment and once your hair begins to grow back, you’ll have a beautiful collection of earrings that you can wear for years to come!
